Our Journey to Net Zero

At Springfield, sustainability is more than just a buzzword – it’s something we’re actively working towards as we continue to grow. With over 40 years of experience supplying furniture to the education, healthcare, and commercial sectors, we understand the responsibility we have to reduce our environmental impact.
To help guide our journey to net zero, we partnered with Tunley Environmental to carry out a full Carbon Reduction Assessment across our business operations.
While we had already taken some positive steps – such as installing solar panels on-site – we wanted to dig deeper into where further improvements could be made. Tunley’s assessment, carried out in line with ISO 14064-1 and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, gave us a clear baseline: 273 tonnes of CO₂e for the 2023–2024 financial year. That’s the equivalent of running 61 petrol cars for a year.
With this data, we’ve set out a clear goal – to reach net zero by 2035. Our roadmap includes reducing emissions by 75% through initiatives like biomass heating and a green fleet transition, with the remaining carbon offset through certified providers. These actions are supported by our commitment to align with the Procurement Policy Note (PPN).
This partnership has been a valuable step forward, giving us the tools and insight to make real, measurable progress. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far and look forward to continuing the journey with Tunley Environmental’s support.
